After the biggest makeover since it opened 32 years ago, Wijnegem Shopping Center is back with a vengeance. The transformation not only brought back the familiar old name, but also modernised the entire interior. With no less than 15,500 m² of new, light-coloured flooring, refurbished seating areas and facilities, and, last but not least, a gigantic transparent LED wall, Wijnegem is aiming for a warmer and more stylish look.
“This project was much more than a mere facelift,” emphasises Katrien Geysen, General Manager at Wijnegem Shopping Center. “We have focused heavily on the customer experience and sustainability. For instance, we switched to energy-efficient LED lighting and refurbished our nine escalators. The reactions to the new look have therefore been particularly positive. Visitors are enthusiastic about the transparent LED wall, advertisers are showing keen interest, and we’ve seen a rise of no less than 9% in visitor numbers. A result we’re particularly proud of.”
